Perhaps the most thrilling
moment of the Jewish year is
hearing the shofar for the first time on Rosh Hashanah morning. As the
sounds
echo through the congregation, we feel called to action in every aspect
of our
lives. Typically, members and visitors ask about opportunities to aid
Betenu after
the service. Yet, by then, many opportunities will have passed.
At the July board meeting, we identified a LONG
to-do
list to guarantee that Betenu provides the best possible holiday
experience.
TEKIAH!! There it is. This year, hear the sound of the
shofar early and take it as a call to act now. We have so many holiday
opportunities, many of which are personally fulfilling as well as
helpful to
Betenu. To volunteer, contact the Betenu office at 603-886-1633
or click here to send email.
- Consider reading Torah
or an Aliyah during the holidays. Last year, we initiated English as
well as Hebrew readings, so there is no language barrier. If you want
to read in Hebrew, we will help you learn a portion. Contact Sanders
Burstein now to get started.
- English readers from
the congregation also enhance our services. You can choose any service.
We always have room for another voice. Contact Elsa Conrad to sign
up.
- If you have a way with
kids, consider leading or aiding in our junior services on Rosh
Hashanah or Yom Kippur morning. Weather permitting, you’ll even get a
chance to spend some time outdoors. No experience needed.
- We welcome office help
anytime, but especially to prepare holiday mailings, guest lists,
contribution cards, and booklets. Many jobs that make a big difference
take very little time.
- Help Betenu look its
best by joining the setup crew September 13 after Sunday School.
General sprucing up is always welcome, too.
By accepting one or more
of these responsibilities, when the
shofar sounds, you will be one step ahead in preparing for the best
year
possible in 5776.
