Sukkot at Betenu

Sukkot and Simchat Torah

This year the festival of Sukkot begins Sunday evening September 23 and Simchat Torah begins Sunday evening September 30.  Join Betenu in celebrating both of these festivals on Friday evening September 28.  We will share potluck dinner at 6:30 PM, followed by a service led by Rav Sam Blumberg.

Sukkot is the Jewish festival of giving thanks for the autumn harvest.   Customs include constructing a Sukkah, a temporary hut that has a roof of loose branches, through which we can view the stars, and a ritual of blessing and waving the lulav and etrog, symbols of the harvest.  On Simchat Torah, we celebrate the completion of the annual reading of the Torah. During the service we read the concluding passages of the Torah and, immediately following this, we read the opening passages.

All are welcome to participate in Betenu's celebration on September 28.   For more information, please contact the Betenu office at 603-886-1633, or click here to send email.
